Strategy games are the ones you can lose on turn one and not find out until turn twenty. This is a smaller, more deliberate corner of GameBuffed: tower defence, resource and base management, tactical grid battles, and a few chess-adjacent games where the whole board is visible and the only hidden information is what you have not thought of yet.
The pace suits a different mood. Nothing here rewards fast hands. What gets rewarded is noticing that you are short on income three minutes before it becomes a problem, or spending a turn on defence when attacking felt better. Losing is usually informative rather than annoying, which is why these hold up to replaying.
They run in the browser and are mostly mouse-driven, so they work well on desktop and acceptably on a tablet. Tower defence is the friendliest entry point — the feedback loop is quick enough that you can see your mistake while there is still time to fix it.
