Clicker games start with a single button and end up somewhere absurd. You tap to earn, spend what you earn on something that earns for you, and repeat until the numbers stop meaning anything. The genre is often called idle, because the good ones keep working while you are not looking.
The pull is not difficulty — there is almost none. It is the shape of the progress curve. Every upgrade shortens the wait for the next one, so the game keeps handing you a small reward exactly when you were about to get bored. That is a deliberate design trick, and knowing it does not make it less effective.
