Adventure games give you somewhere to go. On GameBuffed that covers a wide range — platform-hopping escapes, survival runs where the map is trying to kill you, treasure hunts, story-driven point-and-click puzzles, and open-ended exploration where the goal is simply to see what is over the next ridge.
What separates these from the quick-hit categories is shape. An adventure game usually has a beginning and an end, and the middle asks you to remember something: a route you already walked, an item you picked up two screens ago, a pattern the game showed you once. Sessions run longer, and stopping halfway feels like stopping halfway.
Most of these play with arrow keys or WASD plus a mouse, which means a desktop or laptop gives you the better experience — though plenty have touch controls and work fine on a phone. If you have never played one of these, look for a title with a clear goal in its description; the sprawling ones are more rewarding once you know you like the genre.
